The Ocean Club: A Sky-High Perspective on Paradise
Some golf courses offer ocean views. At The Ocean Club on Paradise Island, the ocean is the view.
Designed by Greg Norman and part of the legendary Four Seasons Resort in The Bahamas, this course feels like a dream brought to life. With the turquoise waters of the Atlantic in constant view and trade winds dancing through the palms, The Ocean Club is less a golf course and more a cinematic experience. From the moment you step onto the first tee, the entire round feels like a getaway in motion.
The course was originally built in the 1960s but was completely redesigned by Norman in 2000 to better embrace the island’s natural beauty. Today, it plays as a sleek, tropical challenge — long fairways framed by swaying palms, tight bunkering, and plenty of wind to keep you honest. The setting is both serene and dramatic, especially when the surf is up and the whitecaps flash against the deep blue horizon.
One of the highlights of my career came while photographing this course — I was lucky enough to take a helicopter ride over Paradise Island, and from the sky, the artistry of the design became even more evident. In this shot, you’re looking straight down on one of the greens, perfectly nestled among palm trees, with the ocean beyond. The balance of manmade and natural beauty is striking from above — like watching a postcard come to life.
The Ocean Club isn’t just golf in The Bahamas. It’s golf as The Bahamas. A place where every hole reminds you that you’re somewhere truly special — and where even the sky had to get involved to tell the full story.

Each week, we share a stunning golf image and a heartfelt, hilarious, or inspiring story. While they may not always align, both aim to elevate the game and uplift those who love it. These images aren’t for sale—they’re simply here to be enjoyed, just as the stories are meant to inspire, entertain, and celebrate the spirit of golf.
For 11 years only to end right after 9/11, our company managed Tour player and media recruitment for the prestigious King Hassan II Trophy in Morocco. Our first stop, along with a score of Pro-Am participants, was Marrakesh, where we stayed at La Mamounia, one of the most exotic hotels globally. It was a regular getaway for Walter Churchill who wrote prose and political papers on a bench in the expansive, colorful garden that would leave Augusta National’s azaleas jealous.
The imperial city didn’t let us down: miles of souks, hordes of beggars, mounds of connoisseur-grade saffron for sale and shops rife with hand-woven Berber rugs. Yes, Colin Montgomery talked me into paying an unknown amount of Dirham for a snake charmer to wrap a cobra around my neck.
The photo ops continued with a camel ride following a unique meal that was Morocco’s equivalent of a three-star Michelin restaurant experience. The legendary Billy Casper told me a dish was chicken pot pie only to quickly realize at first bite it was pigeon pie that I quickly transferred to my silk napkin. Fool me once and, well, fool me twice. Billy said it’s customary to honor our royal hosts by eating a half dozen of the country’s famous tangerines with every meal. Little did I think it would result in regular restroom visits. Color me young and naïve.
Rabat was a short flight away where the golf tournament was to be played on the marvelous course at the Dar es Salam Golf Club. Nick Price, David Toms, Vijay Singh, Payne Stewart, Craig Stadler, Jim Furyk, Jose Maria Olazabal, Jesper Parnevik and other stars of that era contested for a dagger replete with handpicked jeweled by his majesty King Hassan II himself.
The antics beyond 72 holes of hotly contested tournament golf were beyond reproach. Sam Torrence downed one too many bottles of Guiness and danced on a hotel table while twirling spaghetti. And the King’s Police, our escort for the week, took us to the Ambrosia discothèque where we were informed that any woman within the harems of those dancing could be ours for the evening. Two of my media friends on the trip turned bright red, then wisely turned down the thoughtful offer.
