The Tribute Golf Club

The Colony, Texas
Golf course photograph of The Tribute Golf Club in The Colony, Texas, featuring clubhouse architecture and rolling fairways.

Some places feel personal the moment you arrive. The Tribute Golf Club is one of those places for me—not just because of the setting, but because of the person behind it. Designed by my friend and fellow Oklahoman Tripp Davis, The Tribute carries a sense of intention and familiarity that goes beyond routing and aesthetics.

Set along the shores of Lake Lewisville, the course is a thoughtful homage to classic links golf, interpreted through a Texas lens. Wide fairways invite creativity. Bunkers sit with purpose rather than flash. Greens reward imagination more than brute force. It’s a course that asks you to think your way around—subtly, steadily—while never losing sight of the joy of the game.

This image captures the clubhouse as the day begins to soften, when the light warms and the wind settles just enough to let you exhale. The building itself feels welcoming and grounded, a natural gathering place rather than a monument. It anchors the experience, reminding you that great golf clubs are as much about community and conversation as they are about scorecards and yardages.

What I’ve always admired about Tripp’s work is his restraint. He trusts the land. He trusts the player. And he understands that memorable golf doesn’t need to shout. At The Tribute, the experience unfolds at an easy pace—one hole leading naturally to the next, with just enough challenge to keep you engaged and just enough openness to keep you relaxed.

There’s also something meaningful about photographing a course designed by someone you know well. You see the decisions more clearly. You understand the “why” behind certain angles, contours, and transitions. And you feel a quiet pride watching people enjoy a place born from vision, discipline, and a deep respect for the game.

This photograph reflects that feeling for me: warm light, tall grasses moving gently in the foreground, and a clubhouse that feels like the heart of the property. It represents a course built with care, confidence, and character—one that stands comfortably on its own while tipping its cap to golf’s traditions.

If this image brings back memories of evenings spent at The Tribute—or sparks curiosity about a course where thoughtful design and genuine hospitality meet—I invite you to explore it in the Golf As Life Signature Collection, where places shaped by friendship, craft, and a love of the game are preserved long after the sun slips below the horizon.
