The Room Matters More Than the Screen

Most conversations about golf simulators start with technology.
Launch monitors. Screens. Software. Numbers.
All of that matters — but it’s not what determines how the room feels once the novelty wears off.
After spending decades photographing golf courses and, more recently, working inside simulator rooms, I’ve noticed something consistent:

Bali Handara Golf Club

Golf course photograph of Bali Handara Golf Club in Bali, Indonesia, set within a volcanic caldera beside a lake, surrounded by lush tropical landscape.

Set inside a volcanic caldera beside a mountain lake, Bali Handara delivered one of the most exotic golf experiences of my career. Golf here felt inseparable from culture, landscape, and daily life.

Royal County Down

Golf course photograph of Royal County Down in Newcastle, Northern Ireland, showing the ninth hole with clubhouse, hotel, and dramatic clouds over the mountains.

A brief visit to Royal County Down left a lasting impression. Standing on the ninth hole beneath gathering clouds, I was reminded why this is considered one of the greatest golf courses on earth.

Willowbend Country Club

Golf course photograph of Willowbend Country Club in Mashpee, Massachusetts, featuring cranberry bog harvest beside rolling fairways.

At Willowbend, golf and Cape Cod tradition intersect—especially during cranberry harvest, when landscape and history share the stage.

Ritz Carlton Penha Longa

Golf course photograph of Penha Longa Resort in Sintra, Portugal, showing fairways framed by historic buildings and wooded hills.

Few places combine golf, culture, food, and history as seamlessly as Penha Longa—a destination that demands repeat visits.

The Tribute Golf Club

Golf course photograph of The Tribute Golf Club in The Colony, Texas, featuring clubhouse architecture and rolling fairways.

Designed by a friend and fellow Oklahoman, The Tribute blends classic links inspiration with Texas land and an easy, welcoming rhythm.
